Common Questions

Where will I live while working at camp?

Overnight counsellors live in cabins with their assigned group of campers. Cabins are shared, equipped with electricity, and designed for group living.

Other residential staff stay in designated staff accommodations on-site.

You may move cabins between sessions, so packing in bins or bags that are easy to transport is recommended.

What will I do when I’m not counselling or leading activities?

Camp is a team environment, and all staff help support operations when needed. This may include:

  • Cleaning cabins and common areas between sessions

  • Supporting kitchen or meal service

  • Helping with maintenance, lawn care, gardening, or farm tasks

  • Preparing spaces for new campers or special events

Training is provided, and many staff enjoy learning new skills outside their primary role.

What about weekends?

Most regular camp sessions run Monday to Friday.

Once campers depart and the site is prepared for the next group, staff may:

  • Leave site for time off, or

  • Choose to stay and work optional paid shifts supporting weekend rentals or special events

Weekend programs may include retreats, group bookings, weddings, or camp-hosted events. These shifts are a great opportunity to earn extra income.

Commitment to Equitable Employment

Camp Riverview is an equitable employer committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming workplace.

We actively work to remove barriers to employment for people who are underrepresented in the workforce, particularly within the outdoor and recreation industries, including Indigenous people, people of colour, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and newcomers to Canada.

We recognize the inherent value, dignity, and potential of every person on our team. Our goal is to ensure that all individuals have open and fair access to employment opportunities at Camp Riverview and feel respected, supported, and empowered to thrive while working here.
